Finding what the most effective ab workouts are can be a challenge. There is a lot hype and just pure bull out there on the internet, mostly from new gadgets promoting fat loss quick, or something like that.

The truth is that the most effective ab workouts have to do with the actual movement that your body makes and how that helps to burn more fat.

Below I am going to go over the 3 most effective ab workouts out there. Keep in mind that these are not a magic bullet, they take hard work just like anything else out there.

Ab workout #1. The Captain’s Chair

This might sound like some sort of torture device from Medieval times, but it is the best ab exercise that you can do. You may have seen it in the gym, it is that high chair looking contraption that has two handles on it.

How you perform this exercise is, you grip each side and with your back flat against it, you then raise your legs up. Variations on this include bringing your knees up to your chest, or twisting side to side to target the obliques.

Ab workout #2. Bicycle Ab Exercise

One of the most effective ab workouts is the bicycle exercise. This is not an actual bicycle, it is simply the motion performed when you do this exercise.

To do it correctly, you lie flat on your back and alternate knee to elbow with your legs performing what looks like a pedaling motion, just like your riding a bike.

Ab workout #3. Twisting Sit-Ups

These are a tough exercise to perform and burn a lot of calories as well. If you are feeling super ambitious you can do these on a decline as well.

To perform these just do a regular sit up but alternate looking to your right and to your left as you come up. These will bust through that belly fat and build amazing abs in no time!
